"100 Italian Stories" telling the success of Made in Italy green energy

A new report praising Italian companies

Not many people know what Italy is doing in term of environment protection and sustainability. The Italian foundation Symbola and Enel have recently released a piece of research on 100 Italian successful energy stories.

They are small and medium Italian enterprises that have specialized in eco-friendly energy-related activities. Symbola has also stressed the pivotal role Italy plays in Europe in the field of energy efficiency, being in pole position for the production of renewable energy, such as the photovoltaic one. Also Mr Francesco Starace - Enel's CEO - has pointed out the importance of green energy and how it became a goal to achieve for all the companies (small or majestic like Enel) involved in the field.

The above-mentioned report is called 100 Italian Energy Stories and it is something to learn from. In fact, in spite of the hard time Italian economy is going through, the country continues to hold a leadership position in several areas. Sustainable energy is undoubtedly one of them, where Italian companies are involved in elaborating new solutions. Some examples are smart networks (to transport and distribute electric energy, correctly sorting the fluxes) and accumulation systems.

Furthermore, in order to give a "green direction" to the way of doing energy in a country, it is necessary to engage with the consumers. They should be able to make sustainable choices, such as electric car sharing.

As a result, Made in Italy progress in the energetic field appears as the fruitful outcome of a synergistic cooperation of multiple actors, i.e. those involved in the distribution of energy, maintenance of plants and research centres. Also innovative start-ups play their role, for example in pointing out the consumptions of household electrical appliances, and associations that increase environmental awareness and need for sustainability among citizens, families and companies.

Finally, given for granted that preserving the environment is a necessity today, it is essential to change those habits and practices that led to the actual decadence, inaugurating a new transversal green mentality.
