Varese Ligure, the Italian Round Village

A stunning "circle" made of houses with very similar dimensions embedding two little squares, Piazza Fieschi and Piazza Castello

Varese Ligure is a very special tiny village in Liguria. This tiny little paradise has the power to enchant tourists with its ancient medieval roads, rural architecture, stones in chiaroscuro, artworks, churches, palaces and other small treasures that make this place so precious.

Varese Ligure is also famous for its so-called "Round Village": starting from Borgo Rotondo, the Round Village is a "circle" made of houses with very similar dimensions embedding two little squares, Piazza Fieschi and Piazza Castello, which were originally occupied by the market and whose elliptical structure was meant to have a defensive function due to identical two-floor houses built without external openings.
