Italy, the best monuments to visit
The top three for Italian people includes Arena di Verona, Santa Maria Novella (Florence) and Santa Maria degli Angeli (Assisi)
Italy has lots of beautiful cities, and it is very common for Italian families to take advantage of weekends to organise a short trip to visit one on them.
To understand which are the favourite monuments for Italian people, Trivago, one of world's top hotel search engine, asked tourists and travellers about their opinion on the best destination in the country.
Here is the top ten based on their responses: Arena di Verona; Santa Maria Novella (Florence); Santa Maria degli Angeli (Assisi); Colosseo, Rome; the Duomo in Milano; Abbazia di Monte Cassino (Cassino); Fontana di Trevi (Rome); Ponte Scaligero (Verona); Ponte Milvio (Roma); and the Pantheon, again in Rome.
