Technology and food: an Italian experiment

Seeds&Chips at TUTTOFOOD 2017, Milan international food fair

TUTTOFOOD 2017 - the international food fair hosted in Milan from May 8th until the 11th - has launched a partnership with Seeds&Chips, the Global Food Innovation Summit. The latter is an outstanding icon for the food sector, involving hundreds of startups, established companies, universities, institutions, investors, incubators, accelerators, opinion leaders and policy makers.

As highlighted by Roberto Rettani - president of Fiera Milano Spa - " Seeds&Chips integrates  TUTTOFOOD multi-sector offer with the efficiency of the high-tech compartment." The relevant technological solutions will be presented within the two pavilions occupied by TUTTOFOOD 2017 where Seeds&Chips will also launch a number of conferences with relevant speakers. For instance, the special conference "Feeding the Cities - Urban and Vertical Farming" centred on sustainable cropping in big cities with Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala.

The food event will also host significant international guests, such as Sam Kass (chief-counsellor of the former US president Barack Obama) and Kerry Kennedy (president of the Robert F. Kennedy Centre for Justice and Human Rights). There will be follow-up sessions on hi-tech themes concerning big data, apps managing 3D printers, restaurants and supermarkets of the future, economic growth and sharing economy.

E-commerce will not be neglected with the eCommerce Food Lab in collaboration with Digital Events which will foster networking between B2B operators and venues hosting workshops and conferences. Tickets for TUTTOFOOD 2017 are available online and estimates say that Seeds&Chips will expect visitors from 110 countries, including company managers, retail representatives and highly qualified buyers from the most vibrant markets of countries like the USA, Germany, France, Spain, Mexico and Brazil.

Marco Gualtieri - Seeds&Chips founder and chairman - has declared "We have the responsibility to identify themes and solutions to the big challenges of our time related to food, nutrition and sustainability". Certainly, food security and the increase in global population are among the hottest contemporary issues and TUTTOFOOD 2017 will definitely be the ideal venue to discuss such relevant topics.
