UK’s National Grid and French RTE chose the Milan-based Prysmian for the design, manufacture and installation of cabling for the IFA2 submarine interconnector, which will run across the seabed from Hampshire to Normandy. With a revenue of almost 8 million Euro, about 21,000 employees and 91 production plants across 50 countries, Prysmian is the largest cable maker in the world, a position it is likely to maintain for many years thanks to its huge investments in R&D: currently, the Italian company runs 17 centres for studying advanced technology.
