Castel Sant’Angelo among Forbes 10 best cities to live in

A piece of heaven where to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle, beautiful beaches and amazing mountains

Forbes, the popular American magazine, has recently inserted Castel Sant'Angelo in the top-ten locations where to move and enjoy life with just a little money. The small village in Abruzzo (with only 15 thousand inhabitants) is ranked 6th after Lisbon (Portugal), Cali (Colombia), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), San Pedro (Belize) and Saint-Chinian (France).

With its relaxed lifestyle, its beautiful beaches but also its amazing mountains to go skiing, Abruzzo is a "piece of heaven, where historical cities are working hard to revive their appeal", as Laura Begley Bloom wrote on Forbes.

Greatly appreciated are also the ancient churches, a museum of contemporary art and a big outlet village comparable to the one of South California. Abruzzo offers everything that Tuscany might offer but with lower prices, "a couple could easily live there with 1400 dollars a month, rent included."

Alice Fabiani, the young and beautiful vice-mayor of the village, is very proud of the achievements of her local administration that has been working for years to revive the place, assuring at the same time a great quality of life.

The heart of Castel Sant'Angelo is the city-centre, rich in breath-taking churches like Saint Michael the Archangel's Collegiata, built in 1300 on the ashes of a structure dating back to the 9th century. Throughout the centre, "Bélle Epoque" lampposts adorn the streets of the village making Castel Sant'Angelo nothing but unique.

Castel Sant'Angelo hosts a number of initiatives in various fields: every year in July, the Festival "From Etna to Gran Sasso" takes place in twinning with the Sicilian village Nicolosi (Catania). Another outstanding initiative is "Le Magiche Notti di li Mazzemarille", a fantastic travel among the ancient popular beliefs. Worth mentioning is also the great offering of hotels, such as Hotel Amico in Villa Michelangelo and the 5 stars Nacalua. Those who are looking for something cheaper can go to one of the many bed and breakfast structures.
