EXPO 2015: innovative and sustainable start ups to reshape the future of Italy

Among other puropses Expo is also paving the way for an increase of private and foreign investments in Milan

Expo 2015 represents the most important occasion to show the World how Italians can take care of it. The theme of the Universal Exposition, "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life", aims at turning environmental problems into opportunities.

Expo Milano 2015 will make capital expenditures of ? 3,228 million in infrastructures, technologies and environment projects, while the budget for the organization of the event is  ? 892 million. Expo is also paving the way for an increase of private and foreign investments in Milan.

For one year the financial hub of Italy will be in the public eye and it needs to present itself as the most innovative, sustainable and accessible city in order to show millions of people how to take care of the Planet. The first step is to become a Smart City boosting a sustainable economic development and achieving a better quality of life.

Italian creative thinkers and innovators could actively participate to these changes with their ideas and startups. In fact, ChangeMakers for Expo 2015 understood that "Startup" Is not only the word of the year but it can really represent an important lever for a sustainable economic development.

The project promoted by Expo 2015 and Telecom Italia launches Make a Cube, the first Italian incubator that is entirely dedicated to innovative businesses with a high social and environmental impact.

The incubator is looking for ambitious Changemakers, under 30, who want to change the World starting successful digital enterprises which can generate growth and have a positive impact on at least one million people. During the 8 weeks of acceleration the 10 selected teams will receive mentorship from more than 60 instructors and mentors coming from all over the country.

Startuppers and social entrepreneurs who tried to launch new businesses in Italy often received too many criticisms about the sustainability of their ideas.

But, as every knows: "If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it"

In fact, nowadays, the Italian Change Makers with apparently "absurd" innovative ideas are not taking anymore just negative feedbacks because there are organizations that can give them hope.

This call for ideas is another chance to make the World better and to reshape the future of Italy.
