Osaka Castle, also known as “Jincheng” or “Jincheng”. Located in the Osaka Castle Park in Chuo District, Osaka City, Japan (formerly part of Settsu Province Higashi-sei County), it is ranked among the three largest cities in Japan along with Nagoya Castle and Himeji Castle. During the Momoyama period when the world was unified, it was the residence of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the center of the Toyotomi regime. Later, Tokugawa Ieyasu destroyed the Toyotomi family with two battles of Osaka (Winter Formation and Summer Formation). After that, the Edo shogunate used Osaka Castle as an important base to control the daimyo of western Japan. The perimeter of the castle including the castle town is about 7.8 kilometers, which is equivalent to the early Edo Castle (inner castle) (the perimeter of the outer castle including the castle town in the late Edo period is about 15.8km). During the Toyotomi period, Osaka Castle was the largest castle in Japan.
