A new man shows his pride at Pitti Immagine Uomo

Standing out: a must in many 2013--2014 collections

The 83rd edition of Pitti Immagine, the most important international trade fair for men's clothing, has just opened at Fortezza del Basso, in Florence. The 4 day event will show the new man look for fall/winter 2013-2014.

The major trends to keep an eye on at this year's Pitti Uomo are two : Goodbye total look: no more one color suits that make everybody look the same, the password now is "distinguishing oneself".

Standing out linked to contemporary craft. Traditionally, craft production has always been associated with quality but not with style. From now on, the target is making high quality craft products with high design and style content.

If a man cannot do without the classic suit, then this must be exclusive and original.

A boring and "serious" grey suit can be juiced up by a denime delavé shirt, or jeans can be worn with a white shirt and a prince of Wales, and turned into an elegant garment.

The second major trend, perhaps the most innovative, after it is confirmed that, at present, total look is definitely "out" in the world of men's wear, is the revival of heavy-weight fabrics, like felt or duffel, and the iconic pieces of British-style men's wardrobe, in a contemporary version of course. Duffel coats ,and retrò mixed wool cardigans and heavy, broad ribs pattern knitted sweaters remind a luxury vintage man fashion.

And last but not least is the comeback of sportswear, and its street- style symbols: sweatshirts, which won't be only supposed to be sportswear, but are likely to replace sweaters in the next winter season.
