VIVIZ new dream

VIVIZ new dream

Rookie groups are always a breath of fresh air in the Korean music panorama. This time, with VIVIZ, things might be slightly different. A new name, VIVIZ is a short form for “vivid dayz”, a refreshing project, and a story still waiting to be told. Still, Eunha, SinB, and Umji are not new to the spotlight. Before they were reborn as VIVIZ, the girls used to be half of the GFRIEND. Before the sudden disbandment in May 2021, the group was known for being brutally considered an underdog in the K-pop industry despite their bop and amazing stage presence. Now that this incredible trio is back, what should we expect from them?

Panorama spoke with them in an attempt exclusive interview for the Italian public.

VIVIZ is not only an acronym made with your real names but also means “vivid days”. How are your days now that you came back as a trio?

SinB: We’re really busy these days. There are so many things to do and so many things we want to do, but overall, every day has been blissful!

You started seven years ago as GFRIEND then came the disbandment. Someone is calling you a rookie... Is that the right way to address you?

Eunha: Please call us experienced rookies! (she laughs) We’re going to show you how we have the heart of a rookie but are experienced veterans.

Let’s talk about your first EP: Beam of Prism. What does this EP mean to you?

Umji: It’s precious to us. I think “precious” is the word that fits best. As so many people have helped us on this project, we also gave it our best. We put our heart and soul into this album as it was our first time introducing VIVIZ to the world, so… it’s very precious to us.

If you could describe it in one word each, which would it be?

Umji: Grand opening. The reason is that I think this is an opening album to the world as a wonderful beginning for VIVIZ.

Eunha: Bop! It’s full of great songs!

SinB: A flower. VIVIZ has finally come to full bloom. (she laughs)

You went through a lot of songs before choosing BOP BOP! as your title track. When and how did you understand that it was the right one?

Umji: We thought, “Ah, this song is so us!” from the moment we first listened to it because it seemed like the perfect song to use as our first impression on a wide range of people. That’s why everyone really pushed to make it our debut song.

If you have to describe your past, present, future, with just one adjective... Which would you choose?

VIVIZ: VIVIZ! It’s a word that can describe our various aspects!

What should we expect next from you?

SinB: We hope you look forward to the endless transformations we will take on. Our successes, too! haha We want to hear people say, “Oh, did VIVIZ have this kind of side?”
