The Best Museums to visit in Italy
43 million people visited Italian museum in 2015
2015 has been a great year for Italian art. According to recently released statistics, 43 million people visited local museums creating something like 155m euro revenues for the government. If we consider 2014 data as well, Italy registered a growth of 5 million visits in 24 months, with Colosseum (+6 per cent), Pompeii (12), Reggia di Caserta (16) and Castel Sant'Angelo recording the highest increases.
The most visited locations in Italy are Colosseum, the archaeological site of Pompeii and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The Gallerie dell'Accademia di Firenze, Castel Sant'Angelo, Boboli Gardens, the Egyptian Museum in Tourin and Venaria Reale, Galleria Borghese and the Reggia di Caserta also make the top ten.
