Italy very well positioned among Conde' Nast Readers' Travel Awards 2012

Like every year, Condé Nast selects the world's best destinations, hotels, villas, airlines and many other things referring to readers's votes, relaunching their points of view about the best the travel world has to offer. In 2012, Italy achieved important results as it was selected as Best Island, Best Country, and Best European Hotel.

Best Island: Condé Nast revealed that whan the best Island Holiday has to be chosen, many people tend to look for sun. Accordingly, "Sicily swaggered to the top of the list against some serious contenders, scoring well across the board as a good all-rounder, and particularly popular for its restaurants and hospitality".

Best Country: Again, Condé Nast preference was Italy. It is interesting to highlight that when asked to state what about Italy captured their imagination most, readers replied strassing that Italy "has the best climate of any country in the world, and also the finest restaurants and the friendliest people". Beyond that, Italy got top marks for culture as well, and all these positive remarks cemented its position as 2012 favourite country award.

Best European Hotel: Again, it was Italy to get the highest marks. It is not that obvious that readers' favourite country in the world also hosts the favourite leisure hotel (in Europe), but this is what happened for Italy: Condé Nast readers "raved about everything at the aptly named Hotel Splendido, but singled out its celestial location in Portofino for your highest praise."

Considering that all others awardshad to be assigned either to UK places and location or overseas ones, it is impossible to deny how extraordinary Italian 2012 performance has been. Actually, the country has been so successfull that it will be extremely difficult to even strive for something better, at least for the coming years.
