The importance of fighting against Italian-sounding food names

A new Observatory launched at Cibus 2016

Cibus 2016, the international Italian food fair held in Parma (Italy), has just confirmed not only that it has become a must for people working in the food industry, as it welcomed 72 thousand visitors, of whom 16 thousand were foreign operators and 2,200 top buyers, but also that the country is determined to keep on fighting 'Italian-sounding' food names.

Accordingly, an observatory to monitor 'Italian sounding' food names for counterfeit goods sold abroad has been launched, to provide an overview of the dynamics of the food and agriculture industry in foreign markets with a focus on areas to which Italy exports the most and to monitor Italian-sounding trends.
