Introducing Italian top skiing venues

Italy has much more to offer other than art, food and sea. In fact, when one thinks about Italy, historical cities like Rome, Florence, Venice and their worldly famous museums and masterpieces immediately come to mind. Italy also means wonderful beaches, where you can swim, sunbathe and admire a breathtaking panorama all around. But we should not forget that the Bel Paese is also the perfect place to spend a winter holiday.

Italy has beautiful mountains and facilities that take care of those travellers who enjoy having their trips in wintertime. If you love skiing there is a great variety of choices available. One of the most beautiful and popular is Monte Rosa, 4634 m high, considered as the "Queen of Alps" on the border with Switzerland. Another location that does not need much of introduction since it is famous all over the world is Courmayeur, at the feet of Mount Blanc in Val d'Aosta. Here visitors have the chance to experience activities other than skiing, such a tracking and climbing on ice falls.

Anothr place not to miss is Cortina d'Ampezzo, which regarded as a must by Italians and foreigners as well. It offers a great number of hotels and spas as well as skiing schools for those who are determined to learn. Moreover, tourists have the opportunity to visit the Great War Museum entirely focused on the First World War.

For those who live in Lombardy and do not want to move far, Bormio (close to Sondrio) is a very good destination. It seems a quiet place but it has everything you might need, such as hotels, restaurants, thermal baths and ski facilities. Finally, in the same region we find Livigno. This venue offers a wild nature landscape where to practice ski, snowboard and climbing.
