An Italian metro in Peru

Italian industrial giant Finmeccanica has recently signed a new contract for building and operating a new metro line in Lima, in Peru. The project involves 35 stations, 35 kilometres of tunnels and 42 trains. According to the contract, the Italian company will supply them all.

"The licensing contract from Peruvian state-owned company ProInversion sets out a five-year term for design and construction and a subsequent 30-year operating and maintenance phase". According to Finmeccanica, "the project will include high performance and highly reliable components and systems". They will contribute to the fulfilment of the long-term aim of achieving the complete automation of metro lines.
