VimpelCom - Opera Mini Partnership: innovative browser for Wind clients to arrive in Italy

Wind has announced a partnership with Opera Software to create an exclusive version of the famous Opera browser, making navigation online from mobile devices even more simple and personalised

Rome, 13 June 2012 - "VimpelCom Ltd", one of the world's largest telecommunications companies and parent company of Italian operator Wind, has announced a partnership with Opera Software to create an exclusive version of the famous Opera browser, making navigation online from mobile devices even more simple and personalised.

In Italy the service will allow Wind clients to use an efficient mobile browser, thanks to advanced compression technology. It will also offer a considerably improved internet navigation experience, optimising the use of the mobile network, cutting costs and extending battery power.

Opera Mini will be easy to use, with a full range of functions: a personalised homepage for one-click access to all your favourites, and the possibility of keeping several pages open at the same time. These services make the software particularly useful for clients without smartphones, facilitating internet access on-the-go.

For Maximo Ibarra, CEO of Wind, "the collaboration with Opera Mini will offer the Group's clients, more than 200 million in the various geographic areas in the world, an enjoyable, fast and easy to use mobile internet service, regardless of how technologically advanced their mobile phone is. In particular, in the Italian market - added Mr. Ibarra - a lot of clients still don't have handsets that allow native viewing of websites, and they will soon benefit from this service to access the internet without any problems".

The new VimpelCom - Opera Mini browser will be rolled out gradually from this summer onwards by all operators in the 18 countries where the VimpelCom Group operates.
