E'LAST: «We are a miracle»

E’LAST Rano, Choi In, Seung Yeop, Baek Gyeul, Romin, Won Hyuk, Won Jun, and Ye Jun, made their official debut on June 9, 2020, during one of the most challenging times of our ages. Like they said when I had the chance to sit and talk with them, they are a real «miracle». The eight-member boy group under E Entertainment is a rising star in the K-pop industry. Their unique concepts, the harmony of their voices, and the wow factor are just a few of the ingredients that compose this group that is totally worth looking after.

Their last mini-album, Roar, and the title track Creature are a continuo of their first chapter, Day Dream. They show not only addictive sound and visuals but a refreshing concept for a group that keeps evolving no matter what.

Panorama.it talked with them.

Welcome back! Can you please introduce yourself to the Italian public?

Rano: Two, three! Return E’LAST! Hello, we are E’LAST, a group that debuted on June 9, 2020, and we’re back with our third mini-album, “ROAR”!!

Your new mini-album is called Roar, and it’s said it’s the climax of your ongoing series, starting with Day Dream. Can you tell us more about it?

Rano: After countless misunderstandings and conflicts since “Day Dream,” E’LAST comes to a realization in the “ROAR” album and faces conflict with their new selves after turning into “creatures.” Please show lots of love and support for this album.

Creature is your title track. What kind of song is it, and what do you feel is its strength?

Baek Gyeul: You will be able to see a more sleek and mature side of us, which is a different style from our previous album.

It also shows a darker side of you and as the various emotions have been triggered by the betrayal you turn into werewolves. How does it feel to put in music this kind of evolution?

Won Jun: The werewolf concept is actually a very challenging concept to express, but I think we did a good job by putting on wound make-up and practicing a lot of the required facial expressions and wolf-like gestures. It was refreshing to change up our music like this, which made our practices fun and gratifying.

Your mini album is composed by seven tracks but there is a new concept: 6 songs are in all the album versions while the last one changes based on the album concept. Can you tell us more about these two songs?

Choi In: We decided to include the last tracks differently because the feelings we aimed to convey were different in the two albums. But I think you’ll become more interested in our concept storyline as you figure out the further details through our music video and the photos in our albums.

You debuted in 2020, in a very difficult time, if you could describe yourself in one word, which would it be?

Seung Yeop: I want to describe E’LAST as a “miracle.”

And what do you think it’s the E’LAST’s song that represents you the most, and why?

Romin: I personally think it’s “Shelter” because the song’s melody and mood convey E’LAST’s style.

With Dark Dream, you charted in the top 10 of Gaon and top 5 of Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. What’s next for E’LAST?

Baek Gyeul: Our goal is to top the Billboard!

Romin: Although it’s difficult to tell you our plans in detail, we wish to set new records in a wider variety of fields and to travel overseas since the Covid-19 situation is getting better.

Do you have any role models in the industry that you’d love to work with?

Won Hyuk: I am really hoping for a chance to work with WOODZ, ATEEZ, Stray Kids.

Who are E’LAST now?

Ye Jun: We are a group that is well-prepared to put out our best selves and stunning performances. We are also more than ready to meet our ELRING worldwide, as the Covid-19 situation is improving.
