According to a survey conducted by the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Ravenna (Emilia Romagna) is the most liveable province in Italy, followed by Trento, Modena, Belluno and Reggio Emilia. Aosta, Bologna, Milano, Siena and Bolzano also entered the top 10. Rome gained the 12^th position and Florence the 16^th. Agrigento (Sicily) is considered the worst, together with Reggio Calabria, Foggia and Caserta.

There are many reasons why Ravenna was chosen as the Italian province with the best quality of life. Among them, the services the province is able to offer to its citizens (from childcare to health services), employment opportunities and local courts efficiency.

Generally speaking, the performance of Emilia Romagna as a region is quite impressive, as four out of nine provinces entered the top ten. In this region, the worst province is Ferrara, in 43^rd position.
