A virtual gathering place for young Italians in Australia

Young Italians can now count on a new virtual "home" in Melbourne, Australia. A few weeks ago, the Consul General of Italy in Melbourne, Marco Maria Cerbo, officially launched a new Internet portal that brings together all the major Italian youth associations operating in the State of Victoria, Australia. It is a diverse group, which includes associations of university students of Italian origin, young professionals, young lovers of Italian culture, and newcomers, which also represent a significant portion of the Italians living in Australia (only last year, there has been a flow of nearly twenty-five thousand Italians who obtained a temporary permit for Australia).

The new website can be visited at https://www.italyaustralia.com/ . Its attractive graphics offer the chance to interact with the various participating groups. "The goal - said Consul Cerbo - is to provide a modern tool to aggregate people, in the hope to be the basis for a future structured network among the participating associations. We have been working on this project for over a year. It is a bet on the younger part of the Italian community, supporting its efforts to grow and modernize."

Promoted as a platform created to help Italian-Australians to connect, share and celebrate, ItalyAustralia.com is a free online directory for all Australians with an Italian background as well as for people interested in getting in touch with the local community. Its website, which is managed by several leader of Young Italian associations across Australia, helps finding and discovering Italian-Australian Businesses and Organisations, Regional Italian Clubs and Associations, Youth Networks, Community Leaders, Cultural Festivals and Local Events.

The initiative was promoted by the Consulate General and made possible thanks to the support of the Italian Services Institute, which funded the creation of the web page.
