Who eats how much bread?

Bread stands out as one of the essential elements in the food habits of the majority of Italians. Nevertheless, according to a new research published by Tiendeo, its consumption is diminishing in the Bel Paese. In fact, in 2014 the amount of bread per person decreased to 44 kg per year, 4 kg less compared to 2010.

At the same time, Turkish people seem very fond of bread since they eat 104 kg per person every year. For this reason, the country is one of the biggest bread producers in the world. Turkey is then followed by Chile with its 96 kg per person.

The World Health Organization recently confirmed the importance of bread in everyone's daily diet, identifying the ideal consumption per person per year, i.e. 53 kg. This means that Italy should to back to its previous habits to be healthier.
