Scilla is probably the most famous and important town on the Violet Coast, whose name comes from the amazing nuances of violet colour reflected into the water at certain times of the day.
Scilla is also famous for its history blended with mystery, recalling the myths and legends of Ulysses fighting against Scylla and Charybdis, told by Homer and Dante Alighieri.
To be fair, this little Calabrian town is still enchanting travellers with its Castle overlooking the sea, the colourful houses leaning on each other and the views of the Strait of Messina and Sicily.
Beyond history and mythology, Scilla is also a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday centered at enjoying the best of Calabrian culinary tradition.
