The Best Christmas Markets in Italy

With Christmas fast approaching, Italy is definitely a good destination where to find little enchanting street markets accompanying the four weeks of Advent. The very first Christmas markets appeared in the Middle Age in Germany, Austria, South Tyrol, North Italy and many French regions such as Alsace, Lorraine and Savoy, but many other countries have recently imported this beautiful tradition.

Trivago.it, the world's largest hotel search website, has just released a new ranking showing where to find the most affordable markets in Italy: Rovereto, Napoli, Bologna, Torino, Trento, Trieste, Firenze, Verona, Bolzano and Merano.  Among them, the most traditional markets are the ones in Rovereto, Trento, Bolzano and Merano. In Europe, the best options are Prague, Berlin and Frankfurt.
