Rome is for sure one of the most romantic cities in the world, but still, if your plan is the one of finding a unique location for a wedding proposal or to announce your partner that your family is about to grow, Rome, like many other cities such as Paris or Prague, sounds a bit too obvious.

According to Abbie Kozolchyk, author of National Geographic's new book, The World's Most Romantic Destinations, there are many other places that are at least as romantic as the ones we have just mentions, despite being a bit less famous.

Among them, the Palawan archipelago in the Philippines; Victoria Falls in Zambia; Australia's Red Center; and India's Taj Mahal. This geographic diversity is not excluding Italy, as the country still makes the top 5 with a Benedictine abbey on its Riviera, San Fruttuoso, near Portofino.
