New changes in Italian companies’ relationship with training

Expo Training Observatory is the first Italian fair of training, offering to companies a number of programs to enhance their productive skills. Furthermore, it provides training programs not only to private enterprises, but also to public administration and young professionals.

Thanks to the partnership with Milan Fair, this year Expo2015 will work as the venue where all those interested could get in touch with the training experts of the Observatory.

From a recent research by Expo Training  - to be presented on 3rd, 4th and 5th June at Expo 2015 - emerged that big companies are investing more and more in training.

From a first glance it seems that only big companies are interested in improving the training of their employees, focusing in particular on basic competences rather than on strategic ones. On the other hand, small and medium enterprises showed a lack of trust in training, devoting few resources on it.  Nonetheless, 51% of companies have redefined their internal organization, 40% hired new people and 30% re-qualified the personnel. Although the full results of the study will be presented at Expo 2015, from these preliminary data is possible to grasp a picture of the situation.

Carlo Barberis - Expo Training founder - commented on these data, stressing the fact that the economic crisis has deeply affected the funds devoted to training, undermining the competitiveness of Italian companies abroad. Nonetheless, the percentage of companies willing to invest on training is increasing, mostly focusing on IT, job security and English courses. Surprisingly, specific programs enhancing technical skills such as marketing, sales and management are not popular within this scenario.

Lastly, besides training, several enterprises have removed obsolete professional roles, replacing them with new ones. The internal re-organization appeared as a necessity for many Italian businesses, which started from specific activities. Among them, re-motivation and re-engineering of working groups, shifts and hours revision, the introduction of new praxis, productivity goals and bonus.
