La famiglia di Ahmed Mohamed, il bambino che fu arrestato in Texas dopo aver portato a scuola un orologio che fu scambiato dagli insegnanti per un ordigno esplosivo, ha avanzato una richiesta di dieci milioni di dollari per danni al municipiodi Irving e altri 5 milioni in risarcimenti all’autorità scolastica locale, spiegando che «la reputazione di Ahmed presso la comunità globale è permanentemente danneggiata».

I legali della famiglia, che si è trasferita in Qatar dopo che è stata offerta al ragazzo una borsa di studio, hanno anche chiesto pubbliche scuse ufficiali alla cittadina dove, qualche mese fa, era scoppiato il caso. 

Il caso aveva innescato un’ondata di solidarietà nei confronti del giovane, appassionato di robotica e tecnologia, che aveva ricevuto il sostegno anche, con un tweet, del Presidente Barack Obama.
