Il prossimo 9 ottobre (fino al 6 gennaio 2016,) il museo "Solomon Guggenheim di New York" dedicherà una grande mostra ad Alberto Burri, nel centenario della sua nascita: sarà la prima retrospettiva monografica in più di trentacinque anni e la più completa mostra mai allestita negli Stati Uniti sull' artista umbro, fatto prigioniero dagli americani durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Le oltre 100 opere di Burri, molte delle quali mai esposte fuori dall’Italia, occuperanno tutte le sei rampe a spirale dello spazio espositivo. 

La mostra, resa possibile grazie al sostegno dell'azienda Lavazza, è stata presentata a Milano, a Palazzo Clerici, dalla curatrice, Emily Braun e dal direttore del Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, Richard Armstrong, secondo i quali Burri è da considerarsi protagonista della scena artistica del secondo dopoguerra. La mostra vuole essere un ponte culturale tra Italia e Stati Uniti, come ha sottolineato l'ambasciatore Philip T. Reeker, Console Generale USA a Milano
