The Italian support to the International Anti-Corruption Day

A full day event devoted to the promotion of integrity, transparency and the prevention of corruption

Today is the International Anti-Corruption Day, a day in which the international community joins hands to relaunch its commitment to ending the deceit and dishonesty that threaten the global effort to boost peace and prosperity for all on a healthy planet. To confirm its support for this important and respectable cause, Italy has organised an Italian Business Integrity Day (IBID) at the OECD Conference Center in Paris.

On the 12th of December, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with Transparency International Italia and some of the largest Italian industrial groups (Acciai Speciali Terni, Luxottica Group and TIM) will convene in Paris to introduce the compliance models and the tools adopted to prevent illicit behaviour and corruption in their business activities. On top of that, they will use case studies to emphasie how the commitment to integrity, transparency and the prevention of corruption can be nurtured through a process of mutual collaboration with the civil society. The Vice President of Transparency International Italia, Michelangelo Anderlini, will also attend the event. He will introduce the Business Integrity Forum and present "anti-corruption toolkit", an handbook targeted to SMEs interested in fostering integrity practices.

The Italian Business Integrity Day coincides with the twentieth anniversary of the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions. A distinct celebration dedicated to the latter will take place on the same day, a coincidence that will secure to Acciai Speciali Terni, Luxottica Group and TIM a very qualified audience made of OECD leaders and representatives of other member States.

The Italian Business Integrity Day has been conceived by the Foreign Ministry within its legal diplomacy and anti-corruption workstream. This initiative will confirm the Italian commitment to protect the image of the country and reduce the gap between the perception from outside and the effective situation of our economic and legal system.
