Sandro Botticelli’s Venus hosted by The University of Hong Kong

The Hong Kong University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) is honoured to present to the Chinese community a Venus (ca. 1482) made by Florentine Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510). The Venus is a heroine, symbolising love, beauty, fertility and prosperity in Greco-Roman mythology.

The iconic image of Italian Renaissance (14th-16th centuries) will be on view in Hong Kong for the first time from October 17th through December 15th, 2013. To enchant and help the Chinese community to get the magic of this extraordinary artistic period, the UMAG has also organised a series workshops and seminars at the Museum to facilitate the learning and the exchanging of art-historical and cultural knowledge.
