The European Commission invests on metropolitan cities in Italy

The 2014-2020 Operative National Programme finances 892€ million to make cities more liveable

The European Commission has recently approved the 2014-2020 Operative National Programme devoted to 14 metropolitan Italian cities. The main goals the intervention pursues are in the field of digital agenda, energetic efficiency, sustainable mobility and social inclusion.

The targeted cities are located in the South of the country (such as Messina, Bari, Catania, Naples, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Cagliari), but also in the Centre (Rome) and in the North (Milan, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Turin and Venice).

The recipients will be provided with a total budget of 892 ? million Euros to be devoted to specific activities. Among the most relevant ones, LED lighting in the city and energetic renovation to make the space more sustainable. Moreover, planned social interventions will address 1800 homeless people and families in hardship.
