Start Cup Veneto opens its 15th edition

The Italian fair to transform entrepreneurial ideas into innovative companies

2016 marks the 15th edition of the Italian competition Start Cup Veneto. Experts from finance, research and business world will assess several applications - presented as business plans - awarding the "best entrepreneurial idea".

As reminded by the Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore, the perfect candidates are groups of at least three people, coming up with some innovative business ideas. In case of victory, they must agree to create a company in loco.

Prizes will be given to business projects relating with the following sectors, i.e. Life and Science, ICT, Agrifood, Cleantech and Industrial. This year there will be two special prizes, Namely, FabLab and M31. The former will be assigned to three projects whose creative minds will be able to use Padua, Venice and Verona FabLab. M31 will be given to one project only, which will take part in on one M31 Society's events, along with receiving the support on its incubated companies.

Similar competitions to Start Cup Veneto will take place in the most important Italian universities. The winners in every region will then take part in the national grand final (taking place in Modena on the 1st and 2nd December), competing for the National Prize for Innovation.

Last year winning projects were also very innovative. For instance, one of the winners was Bactory (dealing with technologies for the development of metal nano-particles bio-synthetized with anti-bacterial properties); a diagnostic kit for autoimmune diseases; new technology to propagate the sound through the production of ultra-subtle audio-speakers and technological optic tools to monitor the status of autoimmune patients.

Considering the great level of innovation characterizing last year projects, the jury expects ground-breaking ideas to come up. Start Cup Veneto is a chance to not miss to transform an excellent idea into a company. It is a good opportunity for Italian brilliant minds to build something within national boundaries and increase the employment rate within the territory. Submissions are opened until 13th May 2016.
