A green silicon valley to be developed in Italy

Umbria will soon host an eco-industrial park where to welcome highly innovative companies in the cleantech sector

Italy will soon have its own silicon valley. This will be a special silicon valley, a "green" one, located in the Umbria region, near Terni. The Italian group Italeafis currently negotiating a "strategic master plan" with the municipality of Narni to redevelop the whole industrial area of Nera Montoro with the technical support of the Architecture and Urban Studies department of the Polytechnic of Milan.

Italeaf is a startupper company, part of T.E.R.N.I. Research group, supporting and maintaining enterprise creation in the fields of green economy and sustainable industry. This group aims for adding value through construction, consolidation and development of a "green industry italian center", a place of community and convergence for entrepreneurs, start-ups, spin-offs, mentors, investors, advisors, consultants and partners.

The name of the group is an inspiring combination of "Made in Italy" and "leaf", with the latter chosen as a symbol for sustainability and environmental-friendly ideas and projects.

Italeaf's President Stefano Neri recently clarified that his group decided to sustain the Polytechnic of Milan project with the aim of creating in Italy an eco-industrial park where to welcome highly innovative companies in the cleantech sector. At the same time, they want to create a bridge connecting already existing manufacturing activities to innovative technologies and favouring the emergence of new synergies among them.

Rural landscapes and productive areas will be connected through what Polytechnic's experts call "transition areas". Among them, a new access to the industrial park, a new square, a new research centre and new roads with inspiring names such as "Avenue of Innovation" and "Avenue of work".

Once again, Italeaf is speaking to companies interesting in settling a new Made in Italy, combining environmental and manufacturing qualities. Promoting the matching between start-ups looking for seed capital and potential investors as well as a highly innovative environment where to easily develop hi-tech productions, this group is on the right path to promote innovation in Umbria.
