10 Apps to travel “like a local”

New tools to enjoy a genuine experience in Italy

In a globalized  world , travellers want to explore new places living their experience as a local. Research in this field has produced several apps that allow a deeper discovery of the destination and the Italian daily Corriere della Sera has identified 10 innovative apps that can help Italian tourists abroad and foreigners in Italy feel almost "locals".

Musement Consierge App  works as a real digital concierge, you can bring wherever you need to. This original tool provides users with tips on what to do in a specific venue, according to their preferences. For instance, assuming that someone is in Barcelona and loves local food, the app will advice on where to go to eat an excellent paella. The service of instant messaging in 7 languages connects users to real concierges all over the world.

Like a Local includes 208 advices and tours offered by locals to tourists in several cities. Similarly, Trip for Real offers the chance to book online a number of activities, guided tours in cities like Paris and Lisbon, with a very convenient price.

VizEat allows "social eating" with locals, who decide to transform their kitchens into restaurants. The same does Eatwith in 150 cities in the world, from Moscow to Tel Aviv and Tokyo.

Meetup allows people sharing the same interests to gather in different places around the globe and Partywithlocal counts more than 20.000 users willing to go to the restaurant, to the disco, to a concert or for a drink with locals. UrbanBuddy connects via chat travellers to locals able to provide reliable hints on what should not be missed in a specific place.

Finally, Withlocals connects tourists with locals willing to be hosts and guides while with Couchsurfing travellers are welcome to sleep on the locals' couch for free.

Undoubtedly, these apps represent the new frontier for travelling in the 21st century to be shared by the most adventurous ones.
