Conad opens five supermarkets in China

After landing in Hong Kong in 2010, the Italian food retailer moves to Mainland China

Chinese New Year shopping this year will be different for all those Chinese with a weakness for Italian food. On the 19th of February, five new supermarkets will be opened among Shanghai and the neighboring provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang.

The new Conad supermarkets will offer a selection of nearly 250 Italian products carrying the famous brands of Conad and Sapori&Dintorni. To please Chinese consumer who love buying online or using automatic vending machines, these two buying options will be also provided.

The Chinese food market is currently growing at an exceptional rate of 20 per cent per year, and the Italian distributor is very well placed to achieve good results in Mainland China. In 2014, the company, which is already present in Albania, Kosovo and Malta, recorded a turnover of 11.73 billion euros, 1.5 per cent (and 173 million Euro) more compared to 2013 data.
